Short term placements
Short term foster placements vary from a few days to a few weeks and up to two years.
A short term placement is required when decisions need to be made about a child’s future. Usually when they are no longer able to live with their family.
After the placement, the child may be supported to return to their family, or they may be cared for through adoption or long term fostering.
As a short term foster carer, you could provide care for a child of any age, from babies to teenagers. You could also provide care for a sibling group, ensuring brothers and sisters stay together at a time when they are unable to live with other family members.
You could offer support to unaccompanied asylum seeking children or you could provide parent and child placements.
As an approved foster carer, you can also provide emergency duty placements.
