Short term fostering
Short term fostering can vary from a few days to a few weeks and up to two years.
Short term fostering is required when decisions need to be made about a child’s future. Usually when they are no longer able to live with their family.
After short term fostering is not needed, the child may be supported to return to their family, or they may be cared for through adoption or long term fostering.
As a short term foster carer, you could provide care for a child of any age, from babies to teenagers. You could also provide care for brothers and sisters, ensuring they are able to stay together at a time when they are unable to live with other family members.
You could offer support to separated migrant children or you could provide parent and child fostering.
As an approved foster carer, you can also provide emergency duty fostering.
