Our foster carer stories - Alex and Jamie

Alex and Jamie, a same-sex couple, have been foster carers and partners for over a decade. They shared their experience as LGBTQ+ foster carers.

"We share a warm, welcoming home with our daughter, Mia, who we adopted five years ago."

"As a same-sex couple, we are committed to creating a safe, loving, and accepting environment where every child can feel valued and supported."

"After adopting Mia, we felt a strong calling to help more children in need but wanted to ensure that any decision would also be in Mia’s best interests. Fostering felt like the right path, allowing us to offer stability and care to children in challenging situations while also involving Mia in a family culture of empathy and kindness."

"Last summer, during the school holidays, we were asked to take in a child in an emergency situation. The immediate bond we all felt was undeniable, and this child has remained with us since, becoming a treasured part of the family."
