Two youths laughing and wearing red baseball capsInspiring Youths is a monthly group for young people aged between 12 and 17 who are part of a fostering household.

The group provides support to young people in their fostering roles, gives them a chance to discuss anything they choose, and is an opportunity to make friends.

Children’s social care workers plan activities and the group often cook dinner together. Young people can talk to workers and other young people who are fostered.

Some of the activities provided include:

  • welcoming foster children into your home
  • confidentiality
  • coping with challenges
  • managing feelings around fostering

Inspiring youths provides young people with the space to try new activities, to take time out, to relax and to chat with their friends.

The group also meets in the school holidays to take part in activities like ice-skating, laser quest, go-karting, escape rooms and meals out.

Sometimes Inspiring youths join together to do activities with the younger group, Kids united.
