Support and training

The training and support we offer our connected carers starts in the assessment stage and continues through to when you are approved.

Through our experience of talking with our connected carers, we know that the training and support at Swindon Borough Council has been instrumental when looking after children. We strongly believe in giving you the tools to help every child thrive.

As a connected carer there are expectations around the quantity of training you will need to attend. Our training officer is keen to assist you in booking on and completing training. Your supervising social worker will support you in understanding what training will be relevant to you at different stages of your looked after child or children's life.

There is a requirement for you to complete the national minimum standards within the first 18 months of being approved as a connected carer. You will have the support of your supervising social worker, a social care worker and the training officer in doing this.
