Council Housing - Exchanges

On this page: Information for council tenants, or tenants of homes owned by registered social landlords, on how to swap homes with other tenants. 

Service Details

To ensure that tenants have the most suitable property for their needs, a facility exists whereby tenants may apply to swap homes with other tenants. This facility is available to:

  • Tenants of Council-owned properties
  • Tenants of homes owned by registered social landlords.

The service is free to the Council's own secure tenants but there may be a charge to other tenants. Please check with your own landlord.

Finding a Property

You may already be aware of a home where the tenants are like-minded and would consider exchanging their home with you. Alternatively you may need to search for an exchange partner.
