Pay your Council Tax
Choose how to pay your Council Tax, including online, by Direct Debit or by phone. You will need your Council Tax account number, which is shown on your bill.
If you are new to Swindon, have moved home or do not have an account number, you must register to pay Council Tax before making a payment.
Make a Council Tax payment online
You can make a single Council Tax payment online using a debit card. It is a quick and secure way to pay.
You cannot pay by credit card.
Pay by Direct Debit
Direct Debit means you do not need to remember to make a payment each month.
Your payment will be added to your Council Tax account on your chosen payment date. If this falls on a weekend or bank holiday, it will be added on the next working day.
Set up or change a Direct Debit
You can also set up or change a Direct Debit by calling 0345 302 2316. You will need:
- your bank account details
- your Council Tax account number
Pay by phone
You can make a single debit card payment using our automated phone service. You cannot pay by credit card.
Call 0845 603 5058. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Calls cost 5 pence per minute, plus your telephone provider’s network access charge.
Allow time for your payment
If you do not pay by Direct Debit, allow extra time for your payment to reach us.

You can check your balance and view your Council Tax account online.
