Self employment (18+)

Starting up a small business is both a challenge and an opportunity, with a far greater chance of success if you have thoroughly investigated your new business idea and understand your responsibilities. If you're a budding entrepreneur, the following initiatives in your local area can help you:

  • SW Growth Hub can help you find out more about starting up a business, business planning, finding customers, sourcing and accessing finance, how to employ people and maximising technology.
  • The Prince’s Trust Enterprise Programme work with 18 to 30-year-olds to turn big ideas into a business reality. They can offer training, mentoring support, funding and resources.
  • Business West can help support people to start-up and grow a business. For inspiration check out the young entrepreneurs in the South West at the Business West blog
