Dates for school terms and holidays
Academies, free schools, foundation schools and voluntary-aided schools can set their own term dates.
Schools managed by another council may also have different dates. Check which council is responsible for your child’s school if you are unsure.
Always confirm term dates with your child’s school. You can find contact details in our Swindon schools directory.
School days and staff training days
The school year has 195 days. Pupils attend school for 190 days.
Schools use the other five days for staff training, sometimes called inset days. Each school sets its own training dates and tells parents and carers.
