Temporary closure orders

A temporary closure order is a legal order to close a public right of way for up to 6 months to protect path users from works being undertaken on or near the path or due to a danger to path users or to enable the path to be cleared of litter.
The Secretary of State can extend a temporary closure order if the reason for the closure is continuing.
Notification of intention to make the order
A public notice is placed on site and advertised in the Swindon Advertiser, with full details available on this website.
Notification of making the order
The order is sealed and a second set of public notices and information is issued as before. This includes the date when the order will come into operation.
