Temporary closure orders

A temporary closure order is a legal order to close a public right of way for upto 6 months to protect path users from works being undertaken on or near the path or due to a danger to path users or to enable the path to be cleared of litter.
The Secretary of State can extend a temporary closure order if the reason for the closure is continuing.
Notification of intention to make the order
A public notice is placed on site and advertised in the Swindon Advertiser, with full details available on this website.
Notification of making the order
The order is sealed and a second set of public notices and information is issued as before. This includes the date when the order will come into operation.
The location of the closure and an alternative route, if available, will be shown on the map on this website.
