Look up your Council Tax bands and charges
How your Council Tax is calculated
Every domestic property has been allocated one of eight bands according to its estimated sale value on April 1, 1991. New properties are valued as if they had existed in 1991.
The table below shows the values used for each band. Bands are allocated by the Listing Officer of the Valuation Office Agency and not Swindon Borough Council. These bands are the same throughout England.
The basic amount of Council Tax due is dependent on these bands.
|Up to £40,000||A|
|£40,001 to £52,000||B|
|£52,001 to £68,000||C|
|£68,001 to £88,000||D|
|£88,001 to £120,000||E|
|£120,001 to £160,000||F|
|£160,001 to £320,000||G|
Property band charges per parish
Differences in Council Tax are also due to the different levels of spending by the parishes and the areas that are not parished.
Charges by property band are therefore listed separately for each parish - please see charges for each parish
Appeals against the property band
If you think your property is in the wrong valuation band you can appeal in certain circumstances - please see Appeals - Property Bands.
You can check the valuation band for your property by accessing the Valuation Office Agency website.
