Get rid of a large unwanted item

We can collect, for a charge, large or bulky free standing household items that will not fit into your bin. Please note that some non-electrical items are sent for disposal. If you would prefer to re-use or recycle your items you can pass them on to friends or family, sell them on online auction sites, contact a local charity or take them to the  Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC).

Collection is for residential properties only. If your request relates to a commercial collection, this includes landlords/letting agents arranging a collection on behalf of the tenant, please request a quotation via the Commercial Waste webpage.

For the collection and disposal of asbestos, please see Asbestos Removal.

Arranging a collection

A single collection costs £28.70, or £23.60 for residents in receipt of at least 80% Council Tax support, and can consist of ONE fridge, freezer or fridge-freezer OR up to three qualifying items (please see the table below).  A maximum of three ‘collections’ booked at a time and once booked the charges are non-refundable.

Please note we do not collect DIY waste including fixtures and fittings. Only those items listed on the collection sheet will be collected so please do not put additional items out.

To request a bulky waste collection please call 01793 445501.

Normally, items are collected within 10 working-days of your request but this may be delayed slightly during bank holiday periods, especially Christmas and New Year. You will be given your actual collection date when you book.

On collection day please ensure all bulky waste items are left clearly visible and accessible for crews at the nearest point on your property to the highway, we are unable to collect from within the property (including from inside garages/sheds) under any circumstances.  We can only collect items that can be safely lifted and carried by two people, anything larger will require a specific assessment before we can commit to collect.
