Roads, footpaths and pavements maintenance and repair

We are responsible for the maintenance and repair of all council-owned (adopted) roads, highways, footpaths, pavements, cycleways and backways in the borough.

We publish a full list of roads adopted by the council.

The M4 motorway and the A419 are the responsibility of Highways England and not Swindon Borough Council.

If the problem is in relation to a pothole, you should report it via our pothole page.

If the problem is in relation to a public right of way (public footpath, bridleway or byway), report it via our rights of way page.

For all other road, footpath or pavement issues, use the form below:

Response times

Problems that require prompt attention because they represent an immediate or imminent risk to the public are assessed, inspected and made safe within one hour. We will follow up with any permanent repair work within six weeks.

Less serious problems are inspected within ten working days. Permanent repair work is then scheduled into our maintenance programme.

For more information please view our carriageway and footway management plan.
