Step 4: Apply for council housing
Things to know before you apply
We will assess your housing register application and tell you our decision.
When you will hear from us
We aim to contact you with our decision within 40 working days of your application.
If you become homeless in the next 56 days, contact Housing Options as soon as possible.

If your application is accepted
We will send you a letter if you are eligible to join the housing register.
The letter will tell you:
- the band you have been placed in
- the date your application was registered
- the size of property you are eligible for
We will send the letter by email or post.
