Fly-tipping
Report fly-tipping or dumped rubbish
Fly-tipping is the illegal dumping of waste. This can range from a few bags to large or hazardous loads, including solid or liquid waste.
We investigate and deal with fly-tipping on public land and take action against people who break the law.
What we do
We deal with fly-tipping on public land by:
- investigating reports
- clearing dumped waste
- taking enforcement action against offenders
Penalties for fly-tipping
If you are caught fly-tipping, you may:
- receive a £400 fixed penalty notice (FPN) for smaller offences
- be prosecuted and fined for more serious cases
Report fly-tipping
Report fly-tipping online. You will need to:
- mark the location on a map
- describe what has been dumped
If you cannot use the map, you can still report fly-tipping and provide as much detail as possible, especially the location.
Report fly-tipping without a map.
Pay a fly-tipping fixed penalty notice
If you have received a fixed penalty notice, you can pay it online.

Fly-tipping on private land
If waste is dumped on private land, the landowner is usually responsible for removing it.
Contact the landowner first. We may only take enforcement action in certain cases.
