Care and support for adults in Swindon

What you might need to pay

In Swindon, social care and support services are usually paid for either:

  • privately by you or your family
  • by the local authority (Swindon Borough Council) when you're eligible for support

If you are eligible to receive adult social care support on a long-term basis, we will discuss this further with you and complete a financial assessment to work out how much you will have to contribute towards the cost of care yourself.

This will determine whether, and how much, you would be asked to pay towards the costs of your care. Please see paying for care services at home or paying for residential and nursing home care for more information.

If you need support from medically trained assistants to help you look after yourself, and you have a complex, long term condition, you may need continuing healthcare. This type care is free of charge. Please see continuing healthcare - Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire ICB for details of who to contact.
