Our Local Transport Plan explains how we will develop and improve transport in Swindon.
Local Transport Plan 4
The Local Transport Plan sets out our transport policies, priorities and programme. It supports the council’s wider strategic objectives.
The plan has two parts:
- our transport policies and strategies
- an implementation plan explaining how we will deliver the planned outcomes
We updated the Local Transport Plan 4 policy and strategy document in 2022 following public consultation. It covers the period to 2036.
We are developing the implementation plan alongside the emerging Local Plan. It will reflect the latest government guidance on climate targets.

Previous Local Transport Plan
Local Transport Plan 4 is replacing Local Transport Plan 3, which was published in 2011.
