Major road schemes
Swindon Borough Council has numerous major road improvement schemes being delivered at any one time. These come about through the identification of existing and future congestion hotspots.
The funding for such schemes can come from a variety of sources. Funding may be secured through the planning process where the impact of the development requires mitigation, or funding can come from government. The Local Enterprise Partnership has a number of schemes identified for funding and this has in recent years been the main funding mechanism for such schemes.
