School safe environment zones (SSEZ)

The following top 23 schools have been prioritised for inclusion in the year 4 programme. This list also includes two schools from Wroughton which have been carried over from year 2.  

These schools will be subject to further investigation which will determine whether they have any behavioural changes or engineering initiatives implemented. 

The delivery of any initiatives with the SSEZ program will also be dependent on deliverability, affordability and community support. 

Initial preliminary investigations have been completed and preliminary designs are available to view below.  

For any of those schools which could require Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs), as part of their SSEZ scheme, additional documentation will be available for you to view on the TRO pages if progressed and formerly advertised.

• The Dorcan Academy
  • There are no additional engineering features planned for St Pauls Drive. The existing school flashing amber signs on St Pauls are to be cleaned and maintained. It is proposed to reduce the speed limit to 30mph on the approaches to the toucan crossing that the students use to cross Dorcan way.

  • There are no additional engineering features that can be installed on Ocotal Way. It is proposed to reduce to speed limit from a 40mph to a restricted road statues (30 mph), from the junction of Drakes Way to Transfer Bridges. The existing school flashing amber signs will be cleaned and maintained with one of them being relocate away from the vegetation.
