The Moredon sports facility provides new and improved spaces for cycling, football, cricket, and community activities.
Facilities at Moredon
The £6.3 million project created a new multi-sport facility at Moredon playing fields.
The facility offers spaces for sport and community activities, including:
- a 1km competition-standard cycle track
- a 3G all-weather football pitch
- a pavilion with a community room and changing rooms
- two refurbished cricket pitches
- three full-size grass football pitches
- a car park with electric vehicle charging points
Who can use the facilities
The facilities are available to communities in Moredon and across Swindon.
The cycle track can also host regional and national competitions.
Project funding
We provided most of the funding for the project. Other funding came from:
- Central Swindon North Parish Council
- the Premier League, The Football Association, and the Government’s Football Foundation
- the England and Wales Cricket Board and Department for Culture, Media and Sport-sponsored Places to Ride programme, working with British Cycling and administered by Sport England
Project completion
The project was completed in spring 2024.
Contractors
Three contractors worked on the project:
- Snape Contracting built the pavilion
- Spadeoak built the cycle track and car park
- Mcardle Sport Tech built the all-weather football pitch
