Report an empty or damaged salt box or salt bin

Salt boxes (sometimes called grit bins, grit boxes or salt bins) are placed at over 493 locations in and around the borough for use by local residents. If a salt box or bin near you becomes empty or damaged, let us know online. You can also request a new location for a salt box.

To help us give the highest priority to the most urgent issues when reporting a problem, you should indicate:

• the road or footpath on which the problem is located
• where on the road or footpath the defect is located (for example, outside house number 25)

Response times

During the winter period, we usually respond to salt box enquiries within five days.
