Volunteer to help your local library

Swindon Libraries are looking for volunteers to get involved in a variety of activities. There is something for everyone, whatever your interest and whatever time you have available.

If you would like to volunteer for Swindon Libraries, you must first attend a Volunteer Recruitment Evening (with the exception of Summer Reading Challenge). This is a chance for anyone interested in volunteering with Swindon Libraries to find out more information. We discuss available roles, what is involved, explain the application process and provide information about training and the benefits of volunteering with the library service. Please see details on Volunteer Recruitment Evenings below.

It’s not too late to help! We are still recruiting for the Summer Reading Challenge.

With summer just around the corner, libraries all around Swindon are starting to prepare for the biggest project of the year. The Summer Reading Challenge runs annually throughout the school summer holidays and helps to promote reading and literacy for children aged 4 - 12. It is produced by The Reading Agency, and delivered by libraries across the UK. Each year the Summer Reading Challenge will have a wacky fun theme to encourage kids to read six books over the holidays and this year it’s Animal Agents!

Take a moment to read the Summer Reading Challenge volunteer role description.

One you have read about what it involves, register online below or print and fill out a form and hand it in to your local library.
