Reading groups

Join a reading group in Swindon or set up your own. We support local groups by providing books and guidance.

Most reading groups are independent and meet in community venues such as homes and pubs. Some groups meet in our libraries.

Set up a reading group

We can help you start and run a group. We offer:

  • advice and guidance
  • sets of books to borrow

As the group leader, you can get a dedicated library card to borrow books for your group. This includes:

  • a longer loan period
  • the option to request multiple copies of the same title on one card

Reading group subscriptions

We charge a fee for each reservation, including those made online. To make it easier to manage multiple copies of the same title, you can take out a reading group subscription.

A subscription allows up to ten titles per group member.
