Local Plan review – emerging strategies public consultation

We are carrying out a review of the current Local Plan for the Borough of Swindon for the period to 2036. The first stage, an issues and options public consultation, took place during the winter of 2017/18.

Emerging strategies stage

This consultation looked at the reviewed plan which proposed alternative strategies to meet our future housing and employment needs.

It also included draft development management policies. This will guide the decisions made on planning applications submitted to the council. 

The consultation lasted for eight weeks from Monday, 29 July until Monday, 23 September 2019.

Next steps

The feedback from this consultation will be used to develop our preferred approach. This will be set out in the final draft. 

A further consultation will take place on this document during winter 2019/20 before it is submitted for examination. The timetable for this work is set out on the Local Development Scheme webpage.
