Anti-social behaviour

How the ASB team can help you

Our anti-social behaviour (ASB) team works to tackle issues affecting people in Swindon’s communities. We assess each report and choose the most suitable action to resolve it.

What the team can do

We use a range of informal and formal measures, depending on the situation.

Informal measures

We usually start with early action to stop problems quickly, which may include:

  • acceptable behaviour contracts and good neighbour agreements
  • referring you or others to mediation
  • speaking directly to the person responsible
  • issuing an advisory letter

Formal measures

If the issue is more serious or continues, we can use legal powers set out in the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

These powers vary in seriousness. We may use them alone or with Wiltshire Police, the council, or registered social landlords.

  • community protection warnings and community protection notices
  • civil injunctions
  • public space protection orders
  • criminal behaviour orders
  • warning letters
  • closure orders
