Human trafficking

Human trafficking affects both adults and children. Child trafficking is a form of child abuse.

Children are recruited, transported or moved and then exploited. They may be forced to work or sold. Children can also face multiple types of exploitation.

Trafficking of adults and children can take place anywhere.


Modern slavery

Modern slavery takes many forms including the trafficking of people.

Any consent given by victims is invalid if it was coerced, deceived or obtained though payment or benefit.

Modern slavery includes, but is not limited to:

  • sexual exploitation
  • domestic servitude
  • forced labour
  • criminal exploitation
