CAMHS: Accessing the service

CAMHS provides specialist mental health assessments, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions for children and young people up to the age of 18 presenting with mental health difficulties.

CAMHS also provides a dedicated eating disorder service (TEDS) for ages 0 to 18 years. 

How do you refer

All routine, getting advice and early help referrals can be made to Be U Swindon. For any urgent referrals a telephone call should be made to the CAMHS duty worker.

What happens for transition to adulthood?

CAMHS have a transition panel which meets every month. This panel has representatives from Adult mental health services, Swindon MIND and LIFT Psychology.

Client groups

CAMHS works with young people 0-18 who require support with moderate to severe mental health difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, psychosis and eating difficulties. 

There is no fee for these services.

Opening times

Swindon CAMHS is open Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm. 

We operate a duty system on weekends and bank holidays to provide mental health assessments at GWH and provide planned support to young people open to CAMHS.  

We have an out of hours CAMHS helpline available for all children, young people, parents and carers available on 01865 901000 (TAMHS provide this in office hours weekdays).
