Apply for a (non-commercial) lotteries and amusements licence

A Small Society Lottery Registration is required by any society organising a lottery where tickets are sold in advance in the run up to the draw date.

If ticket sales are likely to exceed £20,000 for any single lottery, or a total of £250,000 in a calendar year, the society must apply for a licence from the Gambling Commission instead.

Simple raffles involving books of cloakroom tickets sold on the day and drawn on the day do not need to be registered.
