You can join Swindon Libraries now and gain free access to our wide range of online resources and services.

Use the link below to complete an online joining form.

Once you have successfully completed and submitted your form, an automatically generated code will appear on the screen.

Make a note of this code and then do one of the following:

  • Take the code (and some identification) to the staff desk at the library you want to use. Our staff will then activate your new membership and supply you with a library card. You will then be able to borrow printed books as well as access our e-books and e-magazines.
  • Email your name and code to Our staff will then activate your new membership and supply you with a virtual library card number to access digital resources. You will then be able to borrow from our range of e-books, e-audio and e-magazines, as well as being able to search our premium e-resources and online learning. Your instant digital membership will last for six months. If at a later date you would like to borrow printed books, you will need to visit a library with some identification and staff will issue you with a membership card.

Extended Access

Extended Access uses technology that allows you to access libraries outside normal staffed hours. If you would like to find out more about Extended Access, visit the Extended Access service webpage.

Data Protection Act

All personal information which members provide when joining the library is subject to the terms of the Data Protection Act. The information will be used only for the administration of library services to our members, or for compiling statistics. These details are only kept if the member is still using the library.

If members have stopped borrowing items for a period of more than a year, their details will be deleted. Personal details are not shared with other council departments.
