Building an Extension - We Want to Make it Easier
Extending your home is stressful - securing the necessary consents, finding a good builder and living with the disruption of the work can be a real nuisance, but the Council wants to make it less of a chore.
At the moment, it can take weeks to get the relevant planning and Building Regulations consents, with the planning application process alone taking up to two months.
We want your views on a proposed new way to do all this, which aims to cut unnecessary red tape and will make our processes quicker and much more user-friendly, but at the same time retains the necessary safeguards to make sure the extension is soundly-constructed and doesn't detract from anyone else's enjoyment of their own home.
For full details of our proposals for streamlining our planning processes, please see Local Development Orders in Preparation.
We're keen to hear your views. |
