Shielded individuals call handling form

Background

The Local Authority are given details of all individuals living in Swindon who have been asked to shield by the Government. We have agreed to make an initial phone call to each of these individuals to check in on them and advise them there is support available to them should they need it.

The purpose of the initial call is to provide a level of reassurance and signpost them to the most appropriate support.

It is important that where they can, people remain independent and self- serve, therefore our focus is on ascertaining how they would ordinarily source their food and meds and whether this is still possible. Wherever possible we would expect residents to ask their friends, family, neighbours or social networks to help during this time.

Only in exceptional circumstances does the Local Authority offer support.

Any local authority support needs to come through Customer Services, Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm or between 10am and 2pm at the weekends. Tel No: 01793 445500 or email: customerservices@swindon.gov.uk

You will be sent a copy of the letter sent to residents for more contextual information
