About this form
This form allows you to report a hedge that is too high on someone else's property.
We can only consider a report if the hedge:
- Is blocking someone's light and / or views
We cannot consider reports that regard:
- Roots
- Falling leaves
- Fear of failing boughs,
- etc.
In addition to the above, the following conditions must be met before the council will investigate the issue:
- The head is growing on land owned by someone else
- The hedge is comprised of a line of two or more trees or shrubs which are evergreen or semi-evergreen
- The hedge is more than two metres tall
- The hedge is capable of obstructing light or views only
- You are the owner or occupier of the property affected by the hedge
- Your property is residential
We can only investigate after all other options have been exhausted and after a non-refundable payment of £375.00 has been received in advance.
Note: is it not the law that hedges must be two metres maximum height. Although the council can demand that a hedge is reduced to as little as two metres in height, most times it is found that a substantially taller hedge is acceptable. This is based entirely on what the investigating officer finds.
