Daycare nurseries

Daycare nurseries offer childcare for children under five, either full-time or part-time, usually between 7.30am and 6.00pm, all year round.

Some nurseries also provide out-of-school care, which is especially useful for working families with children of both pre-school and school age.

Nurseries give children, including disabled children, the opportunity to learn, play with others, and prepare for school in a safe and supportive environment.

Registration and inspection

All daycare nurseries in Swindon are registered and inspected by Ofsted and are staffed by qualified professionals.

School admissions

In Swindon, the nursery your child attends does not affect which school they will go to. School admissions are managed separately.

Baby places

Places for babies are limited, so it's important to plan ahead. We recommend arranging childcare well in advance of returning to work to help secure a place at your preferred nursery.

Older children

Places for older pre-school children are generally more widely available, but it is still a good idea to plan in advance.

Funded early education

All daycare nurseries in Swindon offer funded early education for three and four-year-olds.

This may be:

  • combined with paid childcare hours, or
  • offered as standalone sessions, for parents who do not wish to pay additional charges
