Raise your voice

Raise your voice (RYV) is a group of young people who meet every month to talk about experiences, share views and ideas and discuss options to improve services.

What to expect in RYV meetings

Meetings are sometimes held online via Teams and sometimes in person.

  • You will be able to give feedback to people in charge of Social Care
  • You can discuss issues you want to focus on
  • You can socialise and get to know others in the group
  • You will be able build and develop skills for the future and your CV
  • You will be able to take part in activities including:
    • inspection weeks
    • staff interviewing
    • fun days out
    • giving feedback on reports
    • creating incentive schemes
  • For every four sessions attended you gain a £20 voucher.

What the RYV have achieved so far

The following projects and consultations have made a positive change:

  • CLA/Care Leavers Social Care Inspection week – RYV interviewed professionals, rated services used and provided recommendations for improvements
  • Feedback was given to improve services to help and support children looked after and other young people
  • Reports were reviewed and the corporate parenting board was held to account
