Stop smoking service

This year is the tenth anniversary of the NHS Stoptober campaign, which has already helped over two million people make a quit attempt. Evidence shows that if you can quit for 28 days, you’re five times more likely to quit for good, so by quitting this October, you’ll be far more likely to stop smoking permanently.

Many people try to quit smoking with willpower alone, but it's much easier with the right help. There are lots of support options available, so try a combination that works for you:

  • try using a Personal Quit Plan, a tool that can helps you plan your quit and access the right support
  • download the NHS Smokefree app, which is free to download and helps track progress, money you are saving and access to daily support
  • Stoptober Facebook group is available for contact with other smokers also attempting a quit
  • you’re three times more likely to quit via your local stop smoking service. You can contact to find out more
