Re-register a birth
You may need to re-register a birth if you want to add the father’s details to a birth certificate, or if the child’s natural parents have married since the birth was registered.
You can also use the GOV.UK guidance if you need to correct a birth registration.
Adding details to an existing certificate
Use the relevant GOV.UK guidance to find out what you need to do:
- Add the father’s name to a birth certificate on GOV.UK
- Re-register a child’s birth following the marriage or civil partnership of the mother and father on GOV.UK
- Correct a birth registration on GOV.UK
Make an appointment
You will also need to contact Swindon Register Office and Ceremony Rooms to make an appointment if the birth was registered in the Swindon district.
