CCTV in Swindon
We have a network of CCTV (closed circuit television) cameras covering the following areas:
- Park South
- Park North
- West Swindon
- Stratton St Margaret
- Walcot East
All our cameras are monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. Our control room is staffed by Swindon Borough Council employees working in partnership with Wiltshire Police and local communities.
By using CCTV we aim to:
- help detect crime by providing evidence
- help prevent and reduce crime by providing a deterrent for anti-social behaviour and public disorder
- help police capture people suspected of committing a crime
- help identify witnesses of suspected crimes
Compliance and privacy
We follow government guidelines for using CCTV.
We have submitted a privacy impact assessment to the Surveillance Camera Commissioner, which ensures we are taking people's privacy into account in our use of CCTV.
To find out how to access footage of yourself, call our security control room on 01793 464703. This line is open 24 hours a day.
