Local government ombudsman

The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (LGSCO) is an independent body that investigates complaints against local authorities concerning ‘maladministration’.

If you have been through all stages of our complaints procedure and are still unhappy, you can ask the LGSCO to review your complaint.

The Ombudsman investigates complaints in a fair and independent way. It is a free service.

The Ombudsman expects you to have given us the chance to deal with your complaint before you contact them. If you have not heard from us within a reasonable time, the Ombudsman may also decide to look into your complaint.

Contact the Ombudsman

You can find information on the Local Government Ombudsman website, or calling 0300 061 0614 (open Monday to Friday, 10.00am to 4.00pm).
