Service summary

TCES National Online School offers a full curriculum delivered through therapeutic education and support to children and young people aged 7 to 25, who are unable to access education within an onsite school setting. This can be for a variety of reasons and can be linked to special educational needs and/or disabilities.

The school follows a therapeutic model of learning which places equal emphasis on academic, social, emotional, and personal development as measures of success. Integrated therapeutic support addresses the emotional and behavioural challenges often faced by students. This includes speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and psychotherapy. Therapists work closely with teaching staff and the pastoral mentors to ensure that therapy goals are embedded into daily learning activities.

The school’s aim is to help students develop the skills and confidence they need to lead independent and fulfilling lives, this is learnt through the LIFE programme which includes:

  • Life skills programs tailored to individual abilities and aspirations
  • Opportunities for social interaction through group projects, virtual clubs, and online events hosted by the school
  • Preparation for transitions, whether to further education, employment, or independent living

Each student has a bespoke learning plan informed by an initial assessment. This assessment identifies the student’s strengths, areas for development, and specific support requirements. These plans incorporate input from families, external professionals, and, where appropriate, the students themselves. The curriculum is designed to adapt to varying learning styles, paces, and goals, ensuring that SEND students thrive academically and socially.

All staff undergo training to understand and support a wide range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, sensory impairments, and physical disabilities. The team includes experienced teachers, SEN specialists, and therapists who work collaboratively to provide targeted interventions. Staff are trained in inclusive teaching strategies, assistive technologies, and methods to foster emotional well-being.

TCES National Online School is the online delivery from a group of DFE registered and Ofsted regulated group of schools and specialist services. It has its roots in a Social Enterprise called TCES (The Complete Education Solution) whose mission is to create wide-scale social impact, through pioneering inclusive practices. TCES, which is entering its 25th year in operation, has provided independent special schools and specialist services since 1999.
