Player Ready Level Up! Alternative Provision offers technological educational sessions alongside emotional well-being, mental health, and SEND support. They offer a range of technological education modules through the AQA Accreditation scheme for those who wish to work towards a recognised certification. They can also offer online gaming and mentoring sessions for those who would benefit from a positive relationship with an adult and low demand sessions.
Player Ready leverage the engaging world of coding and technology within their five venues across the United Kingdom or online through their virtual learning platform. The sessions allow mentors to connect with children and young people in a relatable, mentor-like manner, fostering trust and rapport, which is crucial for effective support.
Furthermore, Player Ready advocates for education through play and interaction, aiming to meet individual needs while enhancing tech and creative skills. They believe technology is a comfortable space for children and young people, and it is used as a platform for life skill development and emotional growth.
The service aims to give children and young people a positive and safe experience with technology, and part of the service is teaching online safety and the possible dangers of being in an online environment. Consistency in regular sessions fosters relationships with their mentors and peers, allowing for genuine connections, making the sessions more than just educational—they are a pathway to confidence, social skills, and personal development. Communication, cognitive development, and emotional well-being form the core of their approach, with a flexible learning environment that adapts to the individual’s pace and interests.
The service offers one-to-one sessions which are educational, fun and engaging and involve Java coding and Minecraft, Roblox LUA coding, Unity, Minecraft Education, game design, digital skills, video creation/editing and 3D modelling. Sessions enable mentors to support children and young people in improving their reading, creative reasoning, maths, science, and problem-solving skills alongside learning digital skills that will support them throughout their lives.
Staff have a range of qualifications, including a Masters in Social Work, a Masters in Game Design, a Masters in Digital Art and a Photography degree.
