Headstart Skillz provides mentoring for children and young people. Their alternative provision supports children and young people with support needs in Tiers 1 and 2. Their Holiday Activities and Food programme supports children and young people with support needs in Tiers 1-4.
Children and young people can be referred into the programme through their school’s pastoral team or directly through their parents and carers. Individuals usually attend the alternative provision programme for 12-weeks as part of their development journey, however this can vary depending on individual circumstances.
The aim of the service is to build resilience, improve behaviour and promote school attendance, as well as developing the physical, mental and social skills of children.
Staff working at Headstart Skillz have a range of qualifications, including Level 3 Mental Health First Aid and Level 3 Safeguarding.
