Service summary

Fresh Start in Education has over 14 years’ experience in working with children and young people who are not in full time education or training for a myriad of diverse and often complex needs. The provider operates nationally, supporting and re-engaging with NEETs, SEND, SEMH, CYP in care, Emotionally Based School Avoidance, young offenders, those excluded or at risk of exclusion, or CYP with medical needs.

Fresh Start work 1:1 in the student’s home environment or by accessing a public venue such as a library, community hub, leisure centre etc., or school where the student remains on roll, all of which are risk assessed. The provider does not have fixed premises where provision takes place, nor do they offer full time provision. Fresh Start’s primary objective is to re-integrate CYP back into full-time education, either at the school where they remain on roll or support transition to new schools, college, or into training.

Each provision is bespoke operating in collaboration with key professionals, schools and colleges working with the CYP and their families.

Fresh Start offer a bespoke person-centred intervention support plan, aligned with EHCP outcomes in sections E and F to guarantee that APDR cycle is consistently applied to meet needs. Provisions provide a creative, broad and balanced curriculum that is adapted to meet the profile of needs. Project-based learning activities are incorporated, embedding core subjects, English and mathematics. Baseline assessments are conducted within the first week of the placement and are used to measure progress. They also apply the Engagement Model for students who previously may have been assessed functioning below the national curriculum.
