Kids for a Quid at STEAM and Lydiard

The fantastic admission promotion at the Swindon Borough Council-owned museums is available for visits between 22 July and 3 September and will mean that up to four children (aged three to 15) can visit either STEAM or Lydiard House Museum for just £1 each when accompanied by a full-paying adult.

To claim the discount at STEAM, visitors can book a timed slot in advance through the STEAM Museum website and enter the discount code ‘K4Q23’ at the checkout. Alternatively, the discount can be obtained on arrival at the ticket desk. For Lydiard House Museum visitors can also obtain the discount on arrival at the ticket desk. The offer is not valid in conjunction with any other offer or promotion including the purchase of family tickets.

Visitors to Swindon’s award-winning STEAM Museum can view a new special exhibition entitled ‘Great Women’s Railway’, which explores the important contribution women made to the Swindon Works and the GWR. Over at Lydiard House Museum, the fascinating ‘Making Hay’ exhibition continues which explores the many farms owned by the Viscounts Bolingbroke and the labourers who worked the land on the Lydiard estate.

Councillor Marina Strinkovsky, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Heritage, Art and Culture, said: “We’ve been running the Kids for a Quid offer for a few years now and it’s always been very popular.

“This August visitors to both museums can step back in time and take part in Time Travellers activities, which let you experience life in the past in a hands-on way. It’s a lot of fun! We also have new family trails at both at Lydiard House Museum and STEAM, and they’re all included in the Kids for a Quid offer.

“So if you’re looking for something to do with the kids in the school holidays, visit the STEAM and Lydiard Park websites and social media for more details.”

STEAM is open Monday to Saturday between 10am and 5pm, and on Sundays between 11am and 4pm. Last entry is one hour before closing time. Lydiard House Museum is open Wednesday to Sunday between 11am and 4pm. Last entry to the House is 30 minutes before closing time.
