On Wednesday night (24 May) guests from local companies including Zurich, Great Western Railway, Arkell’s Brewery and Intel, were treated to tours of the stunning new hotel and conference centre, which has recently undergone an extensive £2.6m makeover to deliver a modern and stylish destination for business and leisure customers.

The transformational project included a major refurbishment of the hotel’s 32 bedrooms, reception, conferencing suite and the creation of the new Palm Bar and restaurant.

Set within the historic country estate on the western edge of Swindon, Lydiard Park Hotel now boasts the perfect location for business and leisure overnight stays, weddings, private functions and corporate events.

Thirty-two bedrooms have undergone a complete refurbishment, featuring high-specification bathrooms, luxury furnishings, and amenities to ensure maximum comfort for residents. Double, family and twin rooms are now available to book online, in addition to an executive suite with sweeping views across the beautiful park landscape. All rooms are en-suite and include tea and coffee-making facilities, complementary Wi-Fi and state of the art cast to play TV’s. Rates start from just £90 per night, including a freshly cooked breakfast.

The stylish new Palm Bar and restaurant is now open to hotel guests and park visitors offering an exciting dining experience in a contemporary setting. A delicious À La Carte menu has been specially curated by the hotel’s new executive chef, featuring vibrant flavours, modern and classic dishes and plant-based options making it a great place to have lunch or dinner with friends and family whilst visiting Lydiard Park.

The Palm Bar is now open daily between 11am and 11pm featuring an extensive drinks menu including artisan gins, beers, lagers and wines courtesy of the hotel’s new partnership with Arkell’s Brewery.

The hotel’s largest function room, the Luxborough, has been tastefully remodelled into a modern open-plan, spacious area for events, conferences and special occasions with its own dedicated private bar. Boasting a 140-seat capacity and views towards the stunning Grade I Lydiard House and Estate Lake, the space integrates perfectly within the new development and will be the go to venue for weddings, conferences and celebrations.

Making Lydiard Park Hotel and Conference Centre accessible to all, visitors have been a major focus for the multi-million pound project. Floors have been levelled throughout all public areas and an accessible DDA compliant bedroom and new toilet facilities have been added. The Palm Bar also welcomes well behaved dogs on leads and their owners to relax and enjoy the classy new surroundings.

Councillor Jim Robbins, Leader of Swindon Borough Council, who attended the launch event, said: “The transformation of the hotel and conference centre has been outstanding and I’m so pleased to finally see the launch of the new Lydiard Park Hotel and Conference Centre.

“I’m particularly impressed with the new bar and restaurant and I’m sure I’ll try and pop in every time I visit the park.

“Alongside works that have already been completed, this project is part of an ongoing programme to ensure this much-loved site is self-sustainable, which will protect its future as a publicly owned, Council-run asset.

“I would urge everyone to visit Lydiard Park and call into the new Palm Bar and enjoy a drink and something to eat in the most stunning surroundings.”
