Jack has been following the monarchy for 13 years and his new exhibition, 'From Railways to Royalty', takes visitors on a journey through his lens.

His varied photographic career has led him to photograph railways, royalty and many subjects in between. Every photo has a story to tell and visitors can expect to see portraits of Prime Ministers, celebrities, and members of the Royal Family during public engagements.

Jack said: “When STEAM approached me to exhibit my work to kick off the summer season, I was very humbled and excited. To have my photographs at this historic location of the former Great Western Railway is such an honour. As a keen railway photographer and engineman on heritage railways, I feel at home.

“I have spent a lot of time hand picking my photographs for this exhibition which coincides nicely with the celebratory Coronation of King Charles III in May. I am really looking forward to seeing the reactions from STEAM visitors and I hope it gives plenty of creative inspiration to budding photographers who are looking at expand their railway photography.”

Alongside 'From Railways to Royalty', Jack has also curated a new exhibition, '100 Years and Still Steaming', which showcases an array of stunning scenes with Castle Class locomotives working on heritage railway lines at the forefront.

Swindon Museums' Collections and Exhibitions Manager, John Wood, said: “We are delighted to be marking the King’s coronation with this exhibition of Jack’s photographs. 'From Railways to Royalty' includes some often informal photographs of members of the royal family including King Charles III. There are also a number of very poignant photographs from last year’s state funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

“2023 also marks one hundred years since the first of the Castle locomotives went into service. No. 4073 Caerphilly Castle was built in 1923 when King Charles III’s great grandfather, King George V was on the throne. We are delighted to be marking this anniversary in collaboration with Jack Boskett, with a second exhibition '100 Years and Still Steaming'.”

The combined exhibitions feature 150 of Jack’s most impressive pieces of work, mounted in frames and as canvas prints. Visitors can see From Railways to Royalty and 100 Years and Still Steaming on display in STEAM’s Caerphilly Castle Hall between Saturday, 29 April and Monday, 10 September 2023.

On Saturday, 12 August, visitors are invited to meet Jack in person at STEAM and find out more about his work.

Admission to both exhibitions is included with STEAM admission and free to STEAM Season Ticket holders.
