The Government is looking for project proposals which build on local insight and knowledge, align with long-term strategic plans for local growth and target people which are most in need of community support.

Locally, Swindon Borough Council is looking for proposals which fall into two priority areas:

  • Applications focused on employment and skills to improve outcomes for vulnerable young people and adults, or those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Projects which bring businesses, education, cultural and other organisations together to consider ways of encouraging and promoting sustainability.

Sally Burnett, Head of Skills and Education Partnerships at Swindon Borough Council, said: “This is a very exciting opportunity to improve our local community and really support those in Swindon who need it most. These applications, if successful, can help improve our town and local provisions so we would encourage everyone with innovative plans that can be delivered within the timescales to apply for funding.”

Applicants must refer to the Prospectus and the Technical Note for Project Applicants and Deliverers, which can be found on the Government’s website, before starting on their bid.

The Government has expressed a preference for applications which requires funding which meets or exceeds £500,000 and the fund will primarily (90%) fund running costs rather than capital investment.

The deadline for applications to Swindon Borough Council is 5pm on 28 May 2021. These will be assessed by the Council and projects will be chosen to form part of a proposal put forward to the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government. The application form and details of how to submit can be found at www.swindon.gov.uk/communityrenewalfund
