Angling at Coate Water
The fishing season at Coate Water is from 15 June to 15 March each year.

You are required by law to hold a valid Environment Agency fishing rod licence, available from the Gov.uk website before purchasing the tickets or applying for the permits detailed below.
Bankside day tickets
You can set up on the bank in the designated fishing areas from 7.30am and purchase a relevant day ticket from the ranger on duty when they check the lake. You are allowed to fish until dusk.

- Standard - £9.00
- Junior - £5.00
- Concession - £2.60
Day season permits
A day season permits enables the holder to set up on the bank and fish from 7.30am until dusk throughout the fishing season.
Rates and prices:
- Standard - £81.40
- Junior - £40.70
- Concession - £20.30
24-hour season permits
A 24-hour season permit enables the holder to camp overnight and fish whilst on site throughout the fishing season.
Rates and prices:
- Standard - £323.00
- Concession - £178.00
- Toilet key deposit - £10.00
The application form for both types of season permit is available to download below. Two passport size photos are required along with payment for the application. If you are applying for a concession with your permit you will need to send a photocopy of the relevant documentation to verify the information.

You can purchase day season permits from the Ranger Cottage at Coate Water on Fridays between 8.30am and 12 noon. You will need to provide a completed permit application form and a valid fishing rod licence.

If there is a high demand for permits, your application may be unsuccessful. In this case, your name will go on a waiting list until a permit becomes available.
Concessions are only available to residents of Swindon Borough Council who are receiving 80% or more subsidy towards their Council Tax. A concession can only be claimed if a current Council Tax bill is produced.
