Conservation area changes

Please note: The conservation areas known as the Swindon Railway Village and Swindon Railway Works have been merged and extended. This is designated and adopted as Swindon’s Railway Conservation Area.

We are in the process of updating this information to reflect the change. In the meantime, any queries should be directed to: conservation@swindon.gov.uk.

This page shows a list of conservation areas across the borough of Swindon. For each conservation area, there are links to:

  • a document of the conservation area appraisal and management plan. This describes the conservation area in detail and includes information about the history behind some its buildings and villages.
  • a map of the conservation area as a downloadable document
  • an online map of the conservation area

You can check if you’re in a conservation area by viewing the interactive map for conservation area boundaries on the Local Plan 2026 webpage.
