Pay your business rates

Unfortunately due to the ongoing situation we are presently experiencing difficulties with our business rates helpline 0845 602 0136.

Whilst we work to resolve this issue, please direct any enquiries you may have to to and we will respond as soon as possible.

Please note that we are currently unable to answer any queries about the business grants announced by the Government and we will be issuing further details and contacting those entitled about these in due course.

COVID-19 pandemic impact on business rates refunds

We currently cannot process cheque refunds. If you are due a refund and do not currently pay by Direct Debit, please e-mail a copy of a bank statement (which clearly show the account name, sort code and account number) as evidence of your bank details so we can process your refund.

Pay online using a debit card

To pay your business rates online you will need: 

  • your business rate account number
  • your company name, trading name or surname

The system will provide you with prompts for the information you need to provide.

Direct Debit via your bank or building society

Direct debit is our preferred method of payment. We will arrange for your bank or building society to transfer your payments directly to us once you have completed the following form:

BACS payment

If you wish to pay by BACS (Bankers Automated Clearing Services) please quote:

  • Swindon Borough Council collection account
  • Sort code 309841
  • Bank account 79041360 and
  • Your business rate account number

By phone

Call our automated payments line on 0845 603 5058 which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Payments can only be made by debit card. Calls cost 5p per minute plus your telephone company’s network access charge.
