Latest accounts
Our Annual Statement of Accounts for the financial year are approved as a draft by the Director of Finance and Audit, being the relevant financial officer. The 2024/25 draft was approved on the 27 June 2025. The final version is agreed by the Audit Committee, being the designated Committee, after external audit review. The statutory deadline for publishing final accounts is the 27 February 2026 for 2024/25 accounts.
Public Sector Audit Appointments Ltd have made the appointment of Grant Thornton (UK) LLP to audit the accounts of Swindon Borough Council from 2023/24 to 2027/28.
The annual accounts provide information on the Council's income and expenditure during the year and balances at the year end. They are prepared in accordance with the accounting practice that applies to all local authorities.
The Audit Committee approved the audited accounts on 20 January 2026 and the auditor provided a qualified opinion due to a lack of assurance relating to the brought forward balance of the 2022/23 pension liability.
The audit cannot formerly conclude until the National Audit Office has concluded their work in respect of WGA for the year ended 31 March 2025. The audit certificate on the accounts will be provided at this time at which point the requirements of Regulation 16(1) of The Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015 will be able to be complied with.
